On Sunday, December 3, we begin Advent 1. It is the day we start a new Christian Calendar. In a way you can say that it is the beginning of a new Christian year. Many Christians use the Common Lectionary (reading the Bible in a three year cycle). On the first Sunday of Advent we start a new set of readings. This year we will be starting the B section which begins with the readings from Gospel Mark. Year A uses Gospel Matthew. Year C uses Gospel Luke.
